Sex & Family
So two different topics today.
First, the New York-based organization, Sex Worker Awareness, has announced that it is holding a day-long seminar entitled, "Speak Up! Media Skills for the Empowered Sex Worker" on April 18, 2009 in NYC. Current and former sex workers can attend the workshop to gain the necessary skills to speak to the media about the sex industry and sex worker rights. This will be the first workshop of its kind, and as such, is limited to only 10 participants. But they plan on holding similar trainings in other cities in the future. So apply now for this one-of-a-kind opportunity!
Second, take a look at a PSA that Los Angeles station, KNBC, refused to air during the Super Bowl:
Produced by GetToKnowUsFirst.org, KNBC rejected the ad on the basis that the NFL does not air PSAs during the Super Bowl -- despite the fact that at least two other PSAs aired during the broadcast. Visit GetToKnowUsFirst.org to find out what you can do to speak out against this discrimination!
