F-B-Why?
A recent FBI raid spanning 29-cities resulted in the arrest of over 500 people -- 464 of whom were adult prostitutes. Only 55 customers were arrested during the raids.
Coordinated by the "Innocence Lost National Initiative," the FBI has been conducting raids like this since 2003 under the guise of protecting children and those involved in underage prostitution. This particular sting operation resulted in the recovery of 48 juveniles.
The FBI should be proud of finding these 48 underage individuals involved in prostitution, but the arrest of 464 adult sex workers is absolutely appalling! Coupled with the fact that only 55 johns (and 55 pimps) were arrested only highlights the biases and injustice that currently exists when it comes to prostitutes' rights and civil liberties.
With tough economic times around us, should the FBI really be spending the copious amounts of time and money required to arrest, process, and charge individuals only looking out for themselves? Go ahead and curb child sex trafficking, but leave the adult prostitutes alone.

You can't possibly be a feminist,
Why can't he? If a woman has consensual sex with a man for money, how is that anti-feminist? A true feminist believes that women should be able to do whatever they want, just as a man should. You will say that prostitution is always coercive and exploitative. This absolutist statement is simply untrue--and paternalistic. Prostitution itself is not coercive and exploitative. Rape, assault, and theft are coercive and exploitative. If a prostitute gets raped, assaulted, or robbed, it isn't because these women choose to have sex for money. It is because these women aren't protected. The problem isn't having sex for money. That's a woman's choice. The problem is violence against women.
to anonymous: assumptions assumptions assumptions....all prostitutes are female? all pimps are male? all women who are prostitutes were coerced in some way or another?
gender wasn't a factor in this post so what does that have to do with feminism? the author was talking about adults and children...
and to rogue, so true!
