A Letter to the AFA
Dear American Family Association,
Look, I get that you hate the gays. I get that you sit on your pedestal and spend all of your time hating. It sucks and makes me sad (not that you hate me, but that you spend all of your time hating). And thankfully, the First Amendment protects your right to hate people as much as you want. And you organize your boycotts and protests, and sometimes they're successful and sometimes they're not, and whatever, life goes on (and it looks like you turned left when everyone else turned right).
But please, I'm begging you, stay within our borders! I don't know if you have failed to realize that your organization is called the American Family Association, so that kind of limits your influence to our 50 states (and those random territories). And, granted, you took your lead from a very imperialistic president who used his power to force his will and beliefs on the international community, but that was wrong and we're in a new era now.
So leave the Pespsi Company alone for marketing to the LGBTQ communities in the UK and Canada! I know Canada is awfully close, but your efforts have successfully kept such "perverted" ads off the airwaves in the states. So stop panicking and just back off a little. In exchange, you can keep your CBN, Hallmark Channel, and ABC Family Channel as gay-free zones (for now). Agreed?
Thanks,
Eric
